Cheap Flights Getting Harder to Find

Due to the fact that airline industry costs are directly related to the cost of crude oil, it is not surprising that cheap flights are getting harder to find now. As the price of crude has skyrocketed back over $100 a barrel recently, so the cost of air travel is also on the rise. Political upheaval in the middle east is spiking oil prices, and as long as this continues cheap flights will become more scare.
This is not a case of shopping different airlines for the best deals as you may have done in the past, because they all act in unison. There has already been a round of price hikes by the major airlines this year, and judging by the political situation playing out globally, it's likely this round of increases will not be the last as there is no clear resolution in sight. The only way to beat these future price hikes is to book in advance and the further the better, so you can lock in current rates before they go up again.
